It might actually officially be sweater weather in Georgia. Of course as soon as I say that, we will probably experience a record breaking heat wave.Regardless of the weather, I'm fully committed to sweater wearing and I wanted to share a few of my current favorites with you. This marled tunic sweater is what I have on right this very second (also wore it yesterday which was when the above picture was taken). You know you got a good one when you wear it two days in a row! It comes in four different colors and is just so comfy. The length is just right because you can wear it over leggings and get some bum coverage. Please and thank you. Oh! And did I mention it's only $11.99?!I paired it with this stripe long sleeve tee (that I also pair with everything!), black denim, and some classic black booties.I've linked a few more below for your viewing pleasure. This week is crazy town USA over here since we are doing the install for the special project I told y'all about last week. Stay tuned for more details! [showboutiquewidget id="517672"]
Staying Fit During The Holidays
I'm the first to admit that when it comes to the abundance of sweets and treats during the holidays, I'm not usually one to say no. After years of balancing between wanting to enjoy and not wanting to pack on the seasonal pounds, I've found that keeping a few things in mind help me to stay on course without missing out on all the goodies!
- Keep up your workout routine: I know this seems like common sense but when things get really busy, sometimes working out is the first thing to go. Continuing to workout will not only keep your metabolism up, but it'll keep you on track for after the Holidays. Plus, burning those extra calories makes room for more of the fun stuff!
- Indulge, but don't over indulge: Sometimes when I deny myself is when I end up going overboard. Allowing yourself to enjoy in moderation and small portions will help you to feel like you're not missing out but also won't make you feel miserable.
- Don't keep sweets in your house: Self discipline isn't my strong suit, especially when something resembling dessert is around. SO! I don't keep sweets in our house. When we go to events or parties around the Holidays, it's fun to eat the yummy stuff but keeping it in my house will put me in my fat pants quicker than you can say SUGAR COOKIE. My one exception to this rule is that we have a hot cocoa bar in our kitchen and once a week, we will snuggle up in front of the fire for a Christmas movie. So the hot cocoa is a must! Most nights we do apple cider so it's totally guilt free.
- Eat clean when you can: Try keeping fresh veggies and simple clean foods in your house for most of your meals to be light and healthy. That way, when you do indulge in the heavier foods, it won't hit you like a ton of bricks.
Reese & Rowen's Christmas Room
I would never have been able to imagine that I could love Christmas any more than I did when I was growing up, but seeing it through the eyes of my babies just makes it SO much more fun! This year we bought a new white tree for the girl's room and picked out all the ornaments together. Both my girls are naturally drawn to pink (they get it honest) so it was pretty easy to stick with the pink and sparkly theme. Their little tree is in the perfect spot for bedtime stories, also referred to as "reading Rudolph for the millionth time".I have a tendency to go overboard with decor (and all the things) so it was an exercise in restraint to just do a bit in their room. They love their little space and I'm sure it's going to be quite tricky to try to ever take this tree down! Maybe it'll be a Valentine tree ;-)A few resources for ya![showshopthepostwidget id="2191331"] As promised, a few of my picks from the Pottery Barn Kids Cyber Week Sale. Shwew. That's a mouthful.[showboutiquewidget id="507723"]
Men's Gift Guide
I'm doing most of my shopping for Matt online this year so Cyber Monday is gonna be my time to shine. I've finally convinced him to give me a very detailed list because he is SO difficult to shop for! Here are a few things I've got my eye on for him this year:[showboutiquewidget id="504427"] Amazon Echo - Currently $40 off + free shipping! Matt has had his eye on this for a while now. It's super convenient for those among us who love effortlessly tossing commands and getting results. HA! But really though, it's awesome to have around for convenience sake.Nike Running Shorts - My sweet man is a brand snob. He'd hate to admit that. But really there's nothing better than Nike when it comes to athletic wear. We try to be outside a lot and love being active so I try to throw away the tattered and worn out shorts of his and replace them as frequently as I can.Tim Tebow's Book - Matt read Tim's first book and loved it. He said it was very inspirational! So this one will hopefully be too!Vest - For some reason committing to wear an actual coat is kind of a pain for some men. Matt would prefer to thrown on a warm vest so he can feel a little less restrained in a big bulky jacket. This one is currently 40% off!Work Boots - Like I said before, Matt LOVES being outside. As he's started feeling better, he's started taking on more projects around the house. So naturally he needs an awesome pair of work boots. These are the ones recommended by the MAN himself, Chip Carter Gaines. What Chip says GOES, y'all.Overnight Bag - We have started traveling a bit more with Matt's company so I was thinking it was time for a bit of an upgrade to his toiletry bag. I loved this one from Land's End because of how it folds up.Apple Watch - FINALLY Matt got an I phone this weekend! #praisehands Now he's really considering trading out his fit bit for a more one and done watch. I like the sleek design and he likes the function of having everything he needs in one place.House Shoes - This is a staple gift I like to buy each year. These are a part of the 50% off sale and just look so durable and sooooo comfy. The perfect combo in a house shoe! 40% off right now! I hope this helps to serve is a bit of a guide as you're shopping for the men in your life.
